National Certificate in Electrical Installations Systems and Maintenance

National Certificate in Electrical Installations Systems and Maintenance (NCES)

Trainees explore plumbing principles, fixture and pipe installation methods and environmentally safe plumbing techniques.

Programs include hands-on work with plumbing systems combined with classwork that covers plumbing codes, piping, venting and blueprint reading. Basic math skills and some understanding of the construction industry are helpful for trainees in plumbing classes

1. Fundamentals of Plumbing

Trainees learn about the scientific underpinnings of plumbing. The class covers drainage, sewer and vent pipe systems and gives an overview of state plumbing codes.

2. Plumbing Installation and Repair

Trainees gain a great deal of knowledge about pipes and pipe systems. Topics discussed include appliance and fixture installation, pipe sizing, pipe installation, installation techniques and pipe system repair.

3. Plumbing practice

Trainees gain experience installing plumbing fixtures, wastes, drains, vents and water lines in this plumbing course. The hands-on experience provides the ability to apply the skills they've acquired in previous plumbing courses. Often, the theory portion of this class covers state laws and regulations for plumbing, which allows trainees to practice using proper techniques from the beginning.

4. Advanced Commercial and Residential Plumbing Repair

The curriculum emphasizes working with existing plumbing systems. Trainees further develop their skills in plumbing service and repair in commercial and residential settings.
